Fort San Pedro was built in the year 1738 by the spaniards and indigenious cebuanos, under the command of MIGUEL LOPEZ DE LEGASPI and spanish government in cebu. The structure of the Fort San Pedro covered a total landarea of 2,025 square meters, with walls that are 20 ft. high and 8 ft. thick, and towers that rise for about 30 ft from the ground. It is also considered as smallest and oldest fort in the Philippines. Fort San Pedro was build to prevent and protect against the hostile native and Muslim pirates.
During the American regime, the fort was turned over to the cebuanos American Commodore George Dewey and became the Amarican Warwick Barracks. The fort was also turned into classrooms where cebuano people took their formal education in the year 1937 to 1941. Aside from this, it becomes also a prison camp and fortification for Japanese soldiers during the World War II. In the year 1946 to 1950, the fort was become an army camp, and was used and serve as hospitals when the battle for liberations was fought.

Now Fort San Pedro is one of the historical landmarks and Tourist distination in cebu,
where Spanish artifacts, cannons, sculptures, sword fragments,documents, paintings, and helmets and Ming porcelain pieces of various sizes are displayed.
